Punjab’s aviation infrastructure has received a significant boost with the operationalization of two key airports in the state. The Punjab government informed the Assembly that Adampur Airport in Jalandhar district is now fully operational with a modern terminal facility built at a cost of around ₹140 crore. Earlier, the airport functioned from a small porta-cabin facility, but the newly developed terminal has substantially increased passenger handling capacity and improved overall infrastructure.
Flight services have already started from Adampur with connectivity to Hindon (Ghaziabad), Mumbai and other destinations, providing a major advantage for passengers in the Doaba region and strengthening regional connectivity. In another major development, the Halwara Airport near Ludhiana has also become operational. The newly constructed civil terminal is expected to serve Ludhiana and the Malwa region, one of Punjab’s most important industrial belts.
According to the government, flight operations from Halwara are expected to begin soon, which will significantly improve air connectivity for industry and business travelers while further strengthening Ludhiana’s status as a major industrial and economic hub of Punjab.
