Adampur shivers at lowest temperature of 2.6°C, Punjab to be hit by hail and thunderstorm today

IMD of Chandigarh unit has put most of the districts of Punjab on yellow and orange alert for thunderstorm, lighting and even hail.

For the past few days, weather in Punjab has left residents puzzled. In the daytime most of the districts of Punjab are witnessing a pleasant sunny weather, while in the night-time, lowest temperature are being recorded in single digit. However, Punjab Weather is all set to change from today i.e. January 22 as predicted by IMD Chandigarh.

In the meantime, Punjab's Adampur recorded the lowest minimum temperature. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains was recorded at 2.6°C in Adampur, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 25.4°C.

Punjab likely to be hit by 2-days of thunderstorm and hail

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) of Chandigarh unit has put most of the districts of Punjab on yellow and orange alert for thunderstorm, lighting and even hail. The weather department also issued advisory warning residents that strong wind upto 60 kmph will blow in the area. The weather is expected to change in Punjab from January 22 night.

January 22- (Orang alert for hail, thunderstorm)- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar

Rest of the districts are on yellow alert for thunderstorm

January 23 (Orange alert for hail, thunderstorm)- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala.

Rest of the districts are on yellow alert for thunderstorm.

The reason behind change of weather is Punjab is western disturbances. IMD on Monday issued an alert in which it wrote, "Under the influence of three Western Disturbances in quick succession, a wet spell is likely over the Western Himalayan region during the next 7 days."
