

Good news for those who have eagerly been waiting for an update on the operational status of Ludhiana’s Halwara Airport. As per reports, the Airport Authority of India has begun preparations to start flights from Ludhiana’s Halwara Airport. The Air Force has granted the Airport Authority of India clearance to begin flights from the Halwara airbase. Along with this, the Airport Authority of India’s Slot Coordination Allocation Committee has granted Air India slot permission as well. Reports indicate that all the formalities related to the permission to begin flights have been completed.
While on the other hand, Air India has also requested for space from the Airport Authority of India to set up its office in the airport terminal building. Air India officials visited the Halwara Airport Terminal Building and finalized the office space. As per sources, the Airport Authority of India’s Slot Coordination Allocation Committee has granted Air India permission to land at Halwara in the first slot at 7:00 AM and take off at 7:40 AM, while the second slot allows landing at 3:00 PM and take off at 3:40 PM.
Initially, two flights will operate daily from Ludhiana to Delhi and vice versa. After this, flights to other states will also be approved and being to operate. However, international flights might take a bit longer to commence. The flight from Delhi to Ludhiana and vice versa will now enable the commuters to complete their journey within 1 hour and 20 minutes only with a ticket cost of nearly Rs 3,500. However, Air India has not yet opened ticket bookings but the Airport Authorities have assured that continuous efforts are underway to start flights as soon as possible.
