In a heartfelt tribute to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Punjab Education Minister and Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains launched the ambitious ‘White City’ project on Wednesday at Sri Anandpur Sahib. The initiative aims to transform the historic city into a symbol of purity, peace, and devotion by painting its streets and landmarks white.
The project commenced after a spiritual adras by Baba Satnam Singh at the revered Qila Anandgarh Sahib, with the first stroke of white paint applied at the local bus stand by the minister himself. “Today, we embark on a journey to make Sri Anandpur Sahib a beacon of beauty, peace, and devotion. This project honors our rich heritage and is a gift to future generations,” said Bains.
Reflecting the community spirit, various philanthropists have generously donated over 20,000 litres of white paint for the initial phase. The minister assured that within the next five to seven days, every street and neighborhood will be covered, giving the city a spotless and serene look.
The ‘White City’ initiative also has the full backing of the Ropar district administration and is envisioned as a long-term campaign to sustain the beautification efforts well ahead of the upcoming commemorations of the Ninth Guru Sahib’s martyrdom.
“On this sacred ground, where Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji built a spiritual fortitude, we begin humble sewa to reflect the Guru Sahib’s divine light,” added Minister Bains, highlighting the deeper spiritual significance of the campaign.
As the white paint spreads across Anandpur Sahib, it is not just a makeover but a profound homage to the legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur, inspiring residents and visitors alike to experience the divine aura of this holy city.
