

Cracking down on drug trade, the administration today took strict action against a local smuggler by demolishing his house located in Rajan Nagar in Basti Bawa Khel area. The illegal structure was demolished by a team of Municipal Corporation in the presence of police force.
As per reports, the Municipal Corporation team had earlier issued a notice to the accused, identified as Narinder Kumar alias Baba. No response was received from Narinder’s side, that is when the action was taken in the presence of the police.
ACP Atish Bhatia and the SHO of Basti Bawa Khel were also present at the spot along with the Municipal Corporation team. Sharing insights on the case, the ACP says that the Municipal Corporation team had issued a letter requesting police protection in order to prevent any unforeseen incident while carrying out the demolition of Narinder Kumar alias Baba’s house.
Talking more about the case the officer says, that he arrived with police force on the scene and took appropriate action. He further states that initial investigation reveals that the accused, Narinder Kumar, was already under police scanner. There were a total of 14 FIRs registered with the police against him that included case of smuggling along with some other charges. The police have assured that appropriate action is being taken against the illegal construction at the accused house.
Police ensured that the action is being taken as a part of a greater initiative by the Punjab Government to curb drug in the region.
