
In a proud moment, India on Sunday lifted their fourth Hockey Men's Asia Cup crown with a commanding 4-1 victory over South Korea in the final in Rajgir, Bihar.
Asia Cup 2205 victory marks India’s first continental title in eight years and secures their qualification for next year’s World Cup in Belgium and Netherlands.
Sukhjeet Singh, Dilpreet Singh and Amit Rohidas found the back of the net for the hosts, with Dilpreet bagging a brace. Korea’s Son Dain managed a consolation strike in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to derail India’s dominance.
Notably, out of 18 members squad of Team India, 9 were from Punjab. Out of 9 Punjab players in Indian Hockey Team, 4 have connection with Jalandhar.

The four hockey stars who have connection with Jalandhar are-
1) Hardik Singh
Hailing from a hockey family, Hardik Singh started playing hockey as a youngster in his village Khusropur. However, in 2012, he joined the Punjab Institute of Sports Academy in Mohali. Later, he shifted his bases to Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar.
Notably, Hardik Singh is the Indian men's team vice-captain. He was a part of the bronze medal-winning hockey team at the Tokyo 2023 Olympics and won the Asian Games 2023 gold medal last year. The 25-year-old had also won the Midfielder of the Year award.
2) Manpreet Singh
Manpreet Singh who was the captain of the Indian hockey team during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in which the Men In Blue won the historic bronze is also part of the team at the Paris Olympics. Manpreet Singh hails from Jalandhar, Punjab.
Manpreet Singh took to his Instagram handle and wrote, "Unforgettable night in Rajgir!

3) Mandeep Singh
Born in Jalandhar, Punjab; Mandeep Singh was also the part of the Indian Hockey Team that won Asia Cip 2025. Indian Hockey Team forward was part of the Indian team that won bronze at the Tokyo Games.
Mandeep on his Instagram handle wrote, "Asia Cup 2025 Champions! Discipline, belief, and teamwork turned dreams into history.
With the trophy in hand and India in spirit. The journey doesn’t end here, it only fuels the hunger for more. Grateful to Rajgir, Bihar, for the incredible warmth and energy as hosts, you made this victory even more special."
4) Sukhjeet Singh
Hailing from Jawandpur (Mianwind) village, Sukhjeet Singh was also the part of Indian Men's Hockey Team that won Asia Cup 2025. Born in Jawandpur village, Sukhjeet Singh's father Ajit Singh was selected in the Punjab Police 25 years back and the family migrated from the village and settled in Jalandhar.
Sukhjeet took to his Instagram handle and wrote, "From the first whistle to the final goal, our passion and grit led us to glory in the Asia Cup 2025 The dream continues, and the World Cup is calling."
