
Hockey Punjab President and Hockey India Vice President Nitin Kohli extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Indian men’s hockey team for their remarkable triumph at the Asia Cup 2025.
He emphasized that Punjab’s contribution was decisive in this historic win, with 9 out of the 18-member squad belonging to the state, showcasing the region’s enduring dominance in Indian hockey.
"Congratulations to all Hockey fraternity, especially Hockey Punjab. The Indian Hockey Team which has also qualified for World Cup has 9 players from Punjab. 4 players are from Jalandhar. I congratulate the people of Jalandhar. I dedicate the Asia Cup win to Punjab that has been going through a tough phase (Punjab Floods). Along with players, we will surely do something for Punjab Flood victims who have lost their family members," said Nitin Kohli.
"The coming days seem bright for Indian Hockey. We (Hockey Punjab) have tied up with RoundGlass who are investing Rs 2500 crore for development of Hockey in Punjab. Hockey Punjab has tied up with RoundGlass for next 10 years with whom we have join hands to promote Hockey in Punjab," added Nitin Kohli.
Nitin Kohli, who has been serving as President of Hockey Punjab and is also currently the Vice President of Hockey India, has played a key role in strengthening the hockey ecosystem in the state.
Under his leadership, Punjab has witnessed new training camps, modern facilities, and grassroots programs aimed at scouting and nurturing young talent.
His initiatives have provided many players the opportunity to rise to national and international platforms.
Kohli said, “This victory is not only the result of the players’ hard work but also the outcome of a system and a culture that Punjab has built over the years. Punjab has once again proven itself to be the true nursery of Indian hockey.”
The nine players from Punjab who played a pivotal role in India’s success include Captain Harmanpreet Singh, Manpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, and goalkeeper Krishan Bahadur Pathak. Their stellar performances laid the foundation of India’s Asia Cup victory.
