An incident of gunfire has been reported from Jalandhar’s Santokh Pura locality. As per reports, the incident took place late at night around 1:40 AM, when two criminals arrived on a bike and first fired at the car parked outside the house, following which they opened fire at the doctor’s residence and fled the scene.

Entire incident captured on CCTV 

The victim, Dr. Yashpal was present at home along with his family at the time of the incident. Upon receiving information about the case, ACP Jayant Puri arrived at the scene and initiated a probe. Reports reveal that the bike-borne assailants fired a total of ten shots and the entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

FIR registered at Police Station 8

Sharing details about the incident, the ACP informs that the police team from Police Station 8 reached the spot for examining the crime scene and an investigation is ongoing. The ACP further adds that a FIR has been registered in the case based on the family’s statement.

No ransom demanded, motive unclear 

It is noteworthy that the accused did not make any ransom demands and the motive behind the firing remains unclear. Giving more information about the case, Councillor Rajesh Thakur states that the incident occurred around 1:40 AM. He shares that he received a call from Dr. Yashpal around 2 AM, and informed him about the incident following which the police were informed. The councilor further states that the matter has been brought to the attention of Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur who has assured them of a swift action and apprehension of the accused. The councilor further adds that he has known the doctor for the past 20 years and shares that the later runs a hospital in Moga. He also establishes that the doctor has no enmity with anyone.
