Bank holidays in Punjab in October 2025: Check complete holiday list
The bank users are advised to kindly refer to the holiday list before your October visit to the bank, as it will be closed for Gandhi Jayanthi, Maharishi Valmiki Jayanthi and Diwali.
The holidays observed by the physical bank branches will still be in effect, even if the digital supports like UPI, Net banking and mobile banking will function without interruption.
Bank holidays in Punjab - October 2025
October 2 (Thursday): Gandhi Jayanti
The Banks in Punjab state shall remain closed on the occasion of birth anniversary of Gandhi Jayanti. On the birth anniversary of the father of our nation, a national holiday is maintained.
October 7 (Tuesday): Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti
On October 7th the banks in Punjab shall remain closed to observe Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. Apart from Punjab the bank holiday shall be observed in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Haryana.
October 11 (Saturday): 2nd Saturday
On October 11th, banks shall remain closed on the second Saturday so as to maintain the RBI guidelines.
October 20-21-22 (Monday, Tuesday-Wednesday): Diwali
Banks in Punjab shall enjoy a long holiday on weekdays, as Monday(20th), Tuesday(21st), Wednesday(22nd) will be a festive holiday on the occasion of Diwali.
In short Punjab state will have altogether 5 festive and national holidays along with 5 weekend holidays, offering the residents of Punjab and bank employees a plethora of holidays.

October 8th
On October 8th, Shri Guru Ram Das Gurupurab shall be observed in Punjab. Although there is official confirmation that the day will be a holiday, as no government notification is issued yet.
October 10th
The auspicious Karva Chauth will be celebrated on 10th of October. Observing the past year trends. No official holiday is declared on this day.
October 16th
The day will observe the birth anniversary of revered Banda Singh Bahadur Ji. No official notification of holiday on these specific days is issued by the Punjab government.
October 23rd
Punjab shall observe the auspicious Guru Gadi Divas of Shri Guru Granth Sahib on October 23rd. The day is not declared as a Public or Bank holiday by any government notification.
Because of the two days off during the 3rd week of October for Diwali, it is suggested that customers needing to process urgent business like cheque clearance, cash withdrawals and cash deposits do so well in advance to avoid last minute delays and lines.
