Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday shared an emotional moment with an elderly woman who addressed him as her “Sarvan Put”, saying the words had fulfilled the purpose of his life and that he would cherish the meeting forever.

Taking to the emotional exchange, Mann said he considered himself the son of Punjab’s mothers and sisters and was working day and night to serve the state’s three crore people.

“Bebe, your calling me a ‘Sarvan Put’ has fulfilled the purpose of my life. I will cherish the memory of this meeting forever.”

Mann said that, with the blessings of Waheguru, every dream of Punjab’s women would come true.

‘Every mother and sister is a brand ambassador’

Speaking about the Mawan-Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, Mann said every mother and sister in Punjab was a brand ambassador of the initiative, which he described as a social revolution focused on women’s dignity, self-respect and financial independence.

He said more than 75 lakh women had registered under the scheme, with Rs 3,824 crore already transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts as Sanman Rashi.

“This is the first scheme of its kind in the country under which all eligible women are being provided Satkar Rashi,” Mann said.

Rs 1,000 assistance, Rs 1,500 for eligible SC women

According to the Chief Minister, women above the age of 18 are receiving mobile notifications regarding financial assistance of Rs 1,000, while eligible Scheduled Caste women are receiving Rs 1,500.

Mann said around 97 per cent of women in Punjab were expected to benefit from the scheme.

The state government has allocated Rs 9,300 crore in the budget for the initiative, with the assistance being transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

‘Working day and night to serve Punjab’

Mann said the direct-transfer mechanism was aimed at ensuring that the financial assistance reached eligible women without intermediaries.

However, beyond the figures and announcements, the Chief Minister's emotional interaction with the elderly woman remained at the centre of his message.

Calling himself a son of Punjab’s mothers, Mann said he would continue working for the people of the state and expressed hope that, with Waheguru’s blessings, the aspirations of Punjab’s women would be fulfilled.
