An explosion was reported outside the Border Security Force (Border Security Force) Headquarters near Guru Nanakpura in Jalandhar on the evening of May 5, 2026 while officials are still investigating the exact cause a social media post by a group calling itself KLA (Khalistan Liberation Army) claiming responsibility has now become a key focus of the probe.
The incident took place around 7:55 pm near the main gate of the BSF complex and according to initial information shared by locals a scooter believed to be an Activa and reportedly linked to a delivery executive was found parked near the entrance when smoke and fire were first noticed and moments later a loud blast followed causing panic in the area.
Some eyewitness accounts also suggest that a young man was seen approaching the location from the PAP Chowk side earlier in the evening and it is being claimed that he may have left a packet near the scooter before walking away towards the bus stand however police have made it clear that this angle is still under verification and no confirmation has been given yet.
After the explosion people in the surrounding area rushed away in fear and immediately alerted authorities and security forces reached the spot within minutes and cordoned off the entire area to ensure safety and prevent any further risk and talking about it Jalandhar Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said that a police patrol was already deployed nearby at the time of the incident which helped in a quick response and added that early findings suggest the scooter first caught fire before the explosion occurred while now forensic experts have been called in to examine the site and determine what exactly triggered the blast.
Thankfully no injuries or casualties have been reported in the incident so far.
Meanwhile investigators are closely examining a viral social media post that has claimed responsibility for the incident and the post allegedly mentions involvement of a group calling itself KLA (Khalistan Liberation Army) and includes threatening remarks directed at a senior police officer however officials have not confirmed the authenticity of the claim and are treating it as part of the ongoing investigation.
The social media post purportedly issued by a group identifying itself as KLA (Khalistan Liberation Army) has claimed responsibility for the blast and in the post the group alleges that it carried out an IED attack around 8 pm on May 5, 2026.
The post also refers to what it calls “Operation Nawa Savair” stating that the campaign will continue and it also mentions that the action is linked to avenging a person named Ranjit Singh and uses strongly worded language against a senior police officer claiming he and his family are being targeted, the message also alleges past wrongdoing and includes warning-like statements but it is important to note that authorities have not verified the authenticity of this post and are treating it as part of the ongoing investigation and officials have also not confirmed any of the claims made regarding casualties or motives.
Security has been tightened across sensitive locations in Jalandhar and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being scanned to trace movement patterns and build a clear timeline of events while authorities have stated that all angles are being examined and the final conclusion will come only after a detailed investigation.
