Union Territory Chandigarh is all set to get multiple new trains and flights. A few days back it was confirmed that Chandigarh to Udaipur Train will kickstart soon. Now, the Chandigarh Administration is planning to launch new direct flights from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport (Chandigarh) to Ayodhya and even Nanded Sahib.

Chandigarh to Ayodhya Direct Flight

As per Dainik Bhasker report, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria recently met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu.

Chandigarh Airport authority has begun consultations with various airlines to explore the possibility of direct flights to Ayodhya and Nanded Sahib.

Officials clarified that the airport is now operational 24 hours a day and all the necessary facilities are available.

Chandigarh to Ayodhya flights have been operational in the past

As per reports, in 2019, Air India started a direct flight to Nanded Sahib, but it was stopped amid COVID and till now this airline has not been able to start.

Similarly, a direct flight to Ayodhya was started during the Maha Kumbh, which received a good response, but after the Kumbh ended, that too was stopped.

More flights from Chandigarh may start soon

Discussions were held in the same meeting regarding the reintroduction of suspended flights from Chandigarh to cities like Dehradun, Pune, Amritsar, Udaipur, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, and Kullu.

The airlines were asked the reason for stopping these flights, and discussions were also held on low foot fall and other technical reasons.

Chandigarh International Airport CEO Ajay Verma was quoted saying that a meeting is being held with the airlines regarding flight operations to religious places. There was also a discussion on stopping flights. Our effort is to increase the connectivity of Chandigarh, so that flights to religious places can be started.
