Bike Rider Jumps to Safety as Car Gets Stuck Under Seltos

A major road accident triggered panic and a heavy commotion near Baba Sahib Ambedkar Chowk (Nakodar Chowk), close to the Vivek International Hotel in Jalandhar, after an allegedly out-of-control Kia Seltos rammed into several vehicles.

The Chandigarh-registered Kia Seltos (CH 01 CU 7272) reportedly hit two to three cars parked along the roadside before crashing into a motorcycle. The impact caused extensive damage to the vehicles.

Bike Rider Escapes, Motorcycle Crushed

The bike rider, identified as Mohit, who works at a bank, had reportedly stopped his Splendor motorcycle by the roadside while speaking to someone over the phone. He said the speeding car suddenly hit him.

Mohit managed to jump away in time, narrowly escaping serious injury. However, his motorcycle became trapped underneath the Seltos and was badly damaged.

Driver Found in Suspicious Condition, Crowd Erupts

The situation escalated after the driver was allegedly seen without proper clothes and appeared unable to speak coherently. After the crash, he was reportedly seen walking on the road wearing only a vest, prompting anger among people gathered at the spot.

The driver allegedly attempted to flee after the accident but was stopped and surrounded by local residents and passersby.

Police Detain Driver, Medical Examination Underway

A PCR-112 team reached the spot shortly after receiving information about the incident. Police detained the driver and initiated a medical examination to determine whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police officer Amrik Singh said the medical test would be an important part of the investigation. Police are also examining whether roadside parking outside the Vivek International Hotel contributed to traffic disruption or the circumstances leading to the crash.

Further investigation is underway, and police have said appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
