In a major development, Guru Amar Das Park Welfare Society held a press conference at Punjab Press Club. Residents of New Jawahar Nagar and Model Town Main Road expressed objections to the ongoing construction in the area and the operation of Cloudnine Hospital.
The welfare society members alleged that the ongoing construction at Cloudnine Hospital is illegal and the hospital is being operated without permission.
Residents said that construction of the hospital is a blatant violation of municipal rules and building bylaws. A complaint was filed with the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation on November 10. Following the complaint, the Municipal Corporation sealed the building.
However, residents alleged that the seal was later lifted and construction work resumed without any official order, written permission, or investigation report, raising questions about administrative transparency.
Residents stated that the building is located on a narrow and busy road with no parking facilities. They further alleged that modifications are being made, posing a threat to fire safety, traffic management, and public safety.
Residents stated that a fresh complaint has been filed. They are demanding that the illegal construction be immediately halted and the unauthorised removal of the seal be investigated.
They insisted that the building plan must be verified and that the hospital should not be allowed to operate until all regulations are met. Residents warned that if appropriate action is not taken, they will take the matter to Deputy Commissioner and, if necessary, to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
