
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday announced school holidays in the state from August 27 to August 30. CM Mann made his announced on his official X handle stated that 'all primary, secondary, senior secondary government and private schools in the state will remain closed from August 27 to August 30.'
CM Mann wrote, "(Translated version) It has been raining heavily for the past few days and the weather department has predicted heavy rains for the next few days as well. In view of this, all primary, secondary, senior secondary government and private schools in the state will remain closed from August 27 to August 30."
At least 7 districts of Punjab are currently witnessing flood due to incessant rainfall in the state and rise in water-level in dams due to heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
For instance, water is being released continuously due to rising water level of Ranjit Sagar Dam and Bhakra Dam. Due to this, the water level of Ravi, Sutlej and Beas rivers is increasing.
The Chakki railway bridge has been shut down due to soil collapse. It means Pathankot-Jalandhar railway route has been shut down. As per reports, at least 90 trains running on the route has been disrupted.
Some trains are being rerouted via the Pathankot–Amritsar–Jalandhar corridor.
