Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann and Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar have reportedly received death threats through an email warning of bomb blasts at Punjab CM’s Office and BJP offices in Punjab and Delhi and following the threat security agencies and police departments have gone on high alert and along with that investigations have been intensified.
According to information received by authorities the email described Bhagwant Mann and Sunil Jakhar as “enemies of Sikhs” and threatened to “eliminate” them and the message also claimed that Punjab would become “Khalistan” and warned that bomb blasts would take place at Punjab CM’s office and BJP offices and along with this the email allegedly mentioned that a blast would occur at the CM’s office at 1:11 PM and also threatened explosions at BJP offices in Punjab and Delhi at 9:11 PM.
The threatening mail further mentioned that Sunil Jakhar should be targeted before June 6 and referred to controversial remarks allegedly linked to his late father Balram Jakhar and officials are currently verifying the source and authenticity of the email while sources said the email was sent to Punjab government and administrative authorities after which security checks were immediately increased at sensitive locations and currently police teams and intelligence agencies have started technical investigations to trace the sender.
Earlier cases involving similar threat emails in Punjab were reportedly sent through VPN-based accounts and fake email IDs and this is not first such threat targeting the Punjab Chief Ministeras earlier this month bomb threat emails sent to schools in Jalandhar also reportedly mentioned Bhagwant Mann and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu. Similarly in February this year bomb threats mentioning CM were also sent to hospitals and educational institutions in Chandigarh and Punjab.
