Hockey India Vice President and Jalandhar Central Halka Incharge, Nitin Kohli on Saturday met Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann at his official residence in Chandigarh.

Nitin Kohli who is also Hockey Punjab President, invited CM Mann to the Grand Finale of Punjab Hockey League (PHL) on 27th September at the Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar.

Organised by Hockey Punjab in collaboration with the Roundglass, the Punjab Hockey League has already made headlines as India’s highest prize-money hockey tournament. The league is a showcase of India’s top hockey talent but also a strong commitment to social causes, including flood relief and youth awareness against drugs.

Nitin Kohli also held a discussion with CM Mann over the possibility of hosting a Four-Nation Hockey Tournament featuring India, Australia, Belgium, and Holland in Mohali and Jalandhar at the end of this year.

The Grand Finale will feature legendary Olympians participating in a special exhibition match alongside the current Indian team, with the entire Asia Cup-winning squad in attendance, offering inspiration to thousands of young athletes across Punjab.

Hockey India will also hand over its donation to Punjab flood relief. “The Punjab Hockey League is more than just a sporting event. It carries a powerful message for our youth – to say no to drugs, embrace sports, and take pride in hockey, our national game,” said Nitin Kohli, President of Hockey Punjab.

Punjab has long been a powerhouse in Indian hockey. Indian Hockey Team that won the Asia Cup 2025 had 11 players from Punjab. The Grand Finale is expected to motivate thousands of young players to follow in the footsteps of these hockey legends while contributing to the state’s flood relief initiatives.
