Sh. Aatish Bhatia PPS , ACP West, Jalandhar, while providing information regarding the incident, stated that a raid was conducted by Commissionerate Police Jalandhar against the illegal sale/storage of liquor in the Baba Kahan Dass Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Basti Bawa Khel. During the raid, a substantial recovery of illegal liquor was made.
During the course of the police action, some individuals gathered at the spot and allegedly created a disturbance and obstructed the police in the discharge of official duties. Taking cognizance of the incident, a case has been registered at Police Station Basti Bawa Khel.
In connection with the case, four accused have been specifically named, while 13–14 unidentified persons have also been booked. Further, one woman, Baby wife of Tarsem Lal, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Commissionerate Police Jalandhar has clarified that misleading and incorrect information regarding the incident is being circulated on social media. The public is requested not to believe or share unverified information or rumours.
