A firing incident in Dashmesh Nagar area of Bastiyat has taken a serious turn with one person losing his life and police arresting two accused in the case and according to police information about the incident was received following which officers immediately reached the spot and examined the situation.

ADCP Rajesh Yadav said that around eight to nine individuals had arrived in area and attacked a local resident and during the preliminary investigation police found that a dispute had reportedly taken place between some individuals earlier and the group had allegedly come to the area in connection with that dispute which later resulted in attack following this police have registered an FIR in the case and started an investigation. ADCP Rajesh Yadav said that one of the injured persons later died and also confirmed that two accused have been arrested so far.

As part of the investigation police have recovered a scooty believed to be linked to the incident and CCTV footage from the area is being examined and digital evidence is also being analysed.

ADCP said that action was taken under directions of Police Commissioner and teams are continuing raids and investigations to identify and arrest remaining accused while the motive behind the incident and exact sequence of events are still under investigation. 

Police said further details will emerge as investigation progresses.

Similarly, a firing incident was reported at BMS Fashion showroom near Kishanpura Chowk in Jalandhar earlier and according to police two youths on a motorcycle allegedly fired a sh0t at the showroom and fled from the spot.

The firing shattered the shop's glass following which the incident was reported to police who reached the scene and started an investigation. Police officials said control room received information about firing around 3:30 pm and CCTV footage from showroom reportedly shows two bike-borne suspects firing while motorcycle was moving before speeding away.

A shell casing has been recovered from the spot and further investigation is underway.
