

The annual ‘Urs’ festival at Dera Baba Murad Shah will be held from May 1 to May 2 and a large number of devotees from Punjab, other states and even abroad are expected to visit and to manage the heavy rush and avoid traffic jams Jalandhar Rural Police have made special traffic arrangements in and around Nakodar.
Police said that normal vehicles will not be allowed to enter Nakodar city during the fair and instead traffic will be diverted through bypass routes to keep roads clear and avoid congestion.
From Jalandhar side: Vehicles coming from Jalandhar will be stopped at Jalandhar Puli and diverted towards bypass routes.
From Kapurthala side: A checkpoint has been set up under Kapurthala Bridge and traffic will be sent towards the bypass.
From Noormahal side: Vehicles from Noormahal Chowk heading towards Nakodar or the Dera will be diverted to alternative routes.
From Shankar side: At Shankar Chowk only vehicles with special permission will be allowed ahead.
From Malri Gate and Hussainpur Road: Traffic from these sides will also be diverted outside the city through bypass roads.
Police have created a special “Green Corridor” so that devotees can reach the Dera without trouble and this route will pass through the Old Vegetable Market, Civil Hospital and Ambedkar Chowk, allowing smooth entry for those coming for prayers.
Light vehicles can be parked near the Dera at designated parking spots.
Heavy vehicles like buses and trucks will have a separate parking area on the Noormahal side.
VIP vehicles will have a special parking area near the Dera.
Police have asked people to follow the traffic advisory and listen to officers on duty and they also requested everyone to park only in marked areas and keep roads clear for emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire brigades. The arrangements aim to ensure that devotees can attend the ‘Urs’ peacefully without facing traffic problems.
