Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh on Wednesday night broke his silence on the entire controversy that erupted during the release of his movie Sardaar Ji 3.
Diljit Dosanjh also spoke on the India vs Pakistan cricket matches that have been going on in the Asia Cup 2025. Many fans had come out in support of Diljit asking the Modi Government that if India can play cricket matches with Pakistan, why can't Diljit's movie Sardaar Ji 3 released in India if it was made way before the Pahalgam Terror Attack.
Diljit is currently in Malaysia on his Aura Tour. His first show took place last night (September 24).
During his live concert in Kuala Lumpur, Diljit Dosanjh said, "This is my country’s flag, we are all India. When my film Sardar Ji 3 was made in February, matches were being played as usual. But the tragic incident in Pahalgam happened later. We condemned it then, we pray now as well, and we want the attackers to face the strictest punishment. We stand with our country. But these matches (India-Pakistan) and my film are two very different things."
On Sardaar Ji 3, Diljit said that our film was shot first, the match came later. The national media focused on portraying Diljit Dosanjh as being against the country. But Punjabis and Sardars can never go against the country.
Controversy surrounding the film "Sardar Ji 3" began after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistani actress Hania Aamir also starred in the film. Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, questions began to arise on social media about the film. As protests escalated, the decision was made not to release the film in India. It was announced that it would only be shown abroad.
Amidst this controversy, Diljit Dosanjh clarified that the situation was normal when the film was made. He stated that for him, the country always comes first.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) launched a protest against the film. They stated, "If they release the film, we will ban Diljit Dosanjh, his production company White Leather House, and all the producers in India."
Meanwhile, there were talks of Diljit Dosanjh being removed from the film Border 2, but he repeatedly posted videos on his social media, clarifying that he would remain a part of the film.
Border 2 will be released on January 23, 2026.
