

A shocking incident came to light in Khanna city on Wednesday. A double murder case was reported in Hotel Greenland, GT road. The information was given to the police who immediately reached the hotel with their team and started investigating on the matter. The police calls out the case as an affair in which the man shot the woman first and then shot himself, committing suicide.
Information of the case
Giving information about the case, DSP Vinod Kumar said that once they were reported about the dead bodies, they immediately reached the hotel and started the preliminary investigation. The team included SHO Bedi and his team. On reaching the hotel, the hotel management told that 2 dead bodies were found in room 104 of the hotel. The DSP informed that the woman was found dead on the bed while the man was on the ground.
Primary investigation
During primary investigation, the police team found a 9 MM pistol and a phone. The data out of the phone was gathered which revealed the identities of the victims. It was found that both of them had an affair and booked the room in the hotel at around 2:30 or 3:00 in the morning of Wednesday.
Identification of the couple
The man was identified as Manjeet Sing. He has an 8year old while the woman is identified as Harpreet Kaur. She was a resident of Tarn-Taran married to Tajinder Singh and had 2 kids. Both of them were aged between 25-30 years. It was found out that Manjeet was a relative of Harpreet’s cousin Jaswinder. Jaswinder Kaur is married in Khanna and shares family relations with both of them from diff sides.
Further investigation
The police said that the further investigation is underway and the dead bodies have been sent for post mortem for forensic investigation. The police identified the tragedy as a case of Illicit Relationship between the couple. He also added that these types of relationships are unacceptable by the society and cause stress. The police is also looking for the past records of the couple and are examining the case from various angles
Negligence by the hotel
The police officials also revealed that the hotel management allegedly violated mandatory procedures by neither recording the couple's names in the hotel register nor obtaining any identity proof, such as Aadhaar cards. Police are also conducting a detailed investigation into this apparent negligence by the hotel management.
