

Jalandhar Police carried out a crackdown in Urban Estate Phase 2 after receiving information that several people were consuming alcohol while sitting inside their vehicles in the area.
During the operation, police sealed the location by setting up barricades, leading to temporary disruption in traffic.
ACP Manmohan Singh said the operation was part of the police's ongoing enforcement drive and he clarified that the action was taken against people consuming alcohol while sitting inside their vehicles in a public place and told that during the drive, police issued challans for violations and also impounded several vehicles.
The ACP further said that some individuals were warned and allowed to leave after verification, while action was taken against those found violating the rules and added that the police are examining the circumstances of each case before deciding on further legal proceedings.
Police said such enforcement drives will continue in different parts of the city to maintain public order and ensure compliance with the law and they also appealed to residents to avoid consuming alcohol in public places and to cooperate with law enforcement during checking drives.
