The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday, November 4, conducted searches at two residences of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora in Moga, Punjab. The action comes just four days after the party announced its first list of candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, in which Arora was renominated from the Moga Assembly constituency.
According to the information available, ED teams reached her residences at around 6 AM in multiple vehicles. Initial reports suggest that four vehicles were involved in the operation, including one bearing a Delhi registration number and three with Chandigarh registration numbers. The officials subsequently began searches at both residences, along with other properties reportedly linked to the MLA, including flats situated along the Moga-Ludhiana Road.
Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora was reportedly present at one of the residences when the ED teams arrived and is said to be undergoing questioning by the officials. However, the exact nature of the questioning and the details of the investigation have not been officially disclosed.
CRPF personnel accompanied the ED teams during the operation, with security arrangements tightened around the premises. The areas surrounding the residences and properties were reportedly cordoned off as the searches continued.
The timing of the searches has drawn considerable political attention, particularly because they come shortly after AAP announced its first list of 40 candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on October 31, 2026.
Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora was among the candidates renominated by the party, with AAP once again choosing her to contest from the Moga constituency. She is the sitting MLA from Moga and also serves as the president of the AAP Punjab Women's Wing.
Her name featured among four women legislators who were given another opportunity to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections through the party's first candidate list.
The ED action has now brought her political position and AAP's electoral preparations in Moga into the spotlight, especially with the next Assembly elections approaching.
Meanwhile, local AAP leaders have reportedly raised questions over the timing of the ED action, alleging political pressure on the MLA following the announcement of her candidature. These are allegations made by party leaders and have not been independently established.
The searches have also triggered attention within local political circles, given Arora's organisational position in the party and her renomination from Moga.
As of now, the Enforcement Directorate has not issued an official statement clarifying the reason behind the searches, the specific case being investigated or the allegations, if any, against the MLA. There is also no official confirmation regarding any recovery made during the operation.
The search operation at the two residences and other linked properties is underway, while further details regarding the investigation and the agency's findings are awaited.
