Currently, there has been a lot of buzz about the Universal Health Coverage promised by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann lead, Punjab Government. The health insurance scheme ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna’ (MMSY) is all set to roll out soon. However, the claims of Rs 10 lakh cashless health insurance cover created a bit of confusion among the masses. The confusion stems from whether the said amount of Rs 10 Lakh would be given to per family per year to all residents of Punjab or Rs 10 Lakh per person in one family.
Debunking the confusion, now some clarity has been received regarding the same. As per the scheme signed with the United India Insurance Company in the presence of Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh, it will provide ₹10 lakh cashless health insurance cover to all families of Punjab. This insurance cover would be provided to per family yearly and not per person. The scheme is designed for total inclusivity, featuring no income cap or exclusion criteria. Applicants must be residents of Punjab.
