Locals alert police after spotting man with child near Lakshmi Narayan Temple
Jalandhar’s Model House witnessed a brief commotion after locals allegedly suspected a man sitting with a child in a park near Lakshmi Narayan Temple of attempting to abduct the child.
Concerned residents alerted the police, following which a team reached the spot and took the man to the police station for questioning. However, the inquiry soon revealed that the man was actually the child’s father and had taken his daughter out to buy her snacks.
Recent kidnapping incident raises suspicion
According to the family, the incident occurred amid heightened concern following a kidnapping-related incident reported in the city a day earlier. The presence of an unfamiliar-looking man with a child reportedly raised suspicion among people in the area, prompting them to contact the police.
The girl’s mother later confirmed that the man was her husband and the child’s father. She said he had taken their daughter out to get snacks, but when the two did not return home for a considerable period, family members became concerned and started looking for them.
Police takes man for questioning
ASI Gulzar Singh said the police received information that a person had been caught by locals near Lakshmi Narayan Temple on suspicion of attempting to take away a child.
Police immediately reached the location and took the man to the police station for questioning. During the inquiry, it was established that he was the girl’s father and that there had been no kidnapping attempt.
After verification, the child was taken back home and the man was released following questioning.
Incident highlights heightened public vigilance
The incident appears to have stemmed from public concern following the recent kidnapping-related incident in the city. While the suspicion turned out to be unfounded in this case, the episode reflects the heightened vigilance among residents over the safety of children.
