What the FIR says?

An FIR copy available with True Scoop reads-

"This is a copy of Zero FIR bearing number 001 and date of Zero FIR. 06.05.2025 U/s 103(1), 238,61(2) BNS ACT Police Station Maharajganj District Balrampur State Uttar Pradesh.Son of late Ramkhelawan Verma, resident of village Niboria, Post Laukhawa, Gram Sabha Sudarshanjot, Police Station Maharajganj Tarai, District Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. The applicant's daughter

The woman (deceased) was taken to Jalandhar by his (father/complainant) cousin Krishna Verma under the pretext of education and employment. She was then placed as a caretaker/maid at the residence of Rohan Sahgal.

On 30 August 2024, the family received information about her sudden death. Krishna Verma allegedly sent a video showing his daughter’s body hanging from a ceiling fan. The complainant alleges this was not suicide but a planned murder.

When he reached Jalandhar, he found that the post-mortem had already been conducted. He claims the local police forced him to put his thumb impression on a Punjabi-written document and threatened him.

The FIR also mentions:

A mobile phone and a pregnancy test kit were reportedly recovered from the deceased’s room, raising suspicion.

The complainant says his daughter did not own a mobile phone, and the pregnancy kit suggested possible sexual exploitation.

Prior complaints made to UP Police and through the CM portal were allegedly ignored.

Court Direction

After no action was taken by local authorities, the complainant approached the court under Section 175(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, requesting an order for FIR registration and investigation.

The court forwarded the application, resulting in Zero FIR No. 001, which has now been sent to Jalandhar Police for registration and further probe.

The complainant further says, "My daughter was unmarried and lived in the upstairs room of Rohan Sehgal's house, and the owner did not allow her to leave the house. Under what circumstances was the pregnancy kit recovered from her room? This also raises suspicion that this is not a case of suicide.

Instead, my daughter was physically abused and murdered."
