Punjab STF has arrested former SSP Raj Jit Singh in Patiala in connection with the 2017 drug case. He was dismissed from Punjab Police in April 2023 following an SIT report concerning his alleged role in the case involving dismissed Inspector Inderjit Singh. A probe into his assets was also ordered.
Raj Jit Singh had expressed his willingness to surrender before the Supreme Court. The matter was listed for October 1, 2026, with directions concerning his surrender and further legal proceedings.
The Supreme Court had also recorded that no chargesheet had been filed against him in the FIR and that he had been declared a proclaimed offender, with the CBI pursuing steps to secure his presence.
