Punjab is all set to honour 71 of its educators with the State Teacher Award 2025 at a ceremony to be held in Anandpur Sahib, on October 5. The event, organized by the School Education Department, will celebrate teachers whose dedication, innovation, and service have made an extraordinary impact in classrooms across the state.
These awards, traditionally presented every year on September 5 — Teachers’ Day, were postponed this time due to the devastating floods that hit several parts of Punjab in July. The state government later decided to hold the felicitation ceremony on October 5, coinciding with World Teachers’ Day, to ensure the contributions of educators are celebrated on a day that resonates globally with the spirit of teaching and learning.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expected to preside over the function, joined by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and senior department officials. The annual State Teacher Awards acknowledge excellence across four categories — State Teacher Award, Young Teacher Award, Special Teacher Award, and Administrative Award — covering educators from primary schools to senior secondary institutions and administrative officers.
