
With winters knocking on the doors, Punjab's weather is all set to be changed soon. Punjab will be hit by thunderstorm as well as hailstorm in the coming days. IMD Chandigarh has issued a fresh prediction and has warned the people Punjab in various districts including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, etc, to remain vigilant.
IMD Chandigarh has predicted that most of the districts in Punjab will be hit by heavy rainfall along with thunderstorm and hailstorm between October 5 to October 7.

October 5- On orange alert- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Moga, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Amritsar, and Fazilka
On Yellow alert- Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Barnala and Bathinda.
October 6- On orange alert- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Sangrur
On Yellow alert- Tarn Taran, Moga, Barnala, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Bathinda, Mansa, Muktasar, and Fazilka
October 7- On yellow alert- Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshairpur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, and Sangrur
IMD Chandigarh in its official release revealed the reason behind change in Punjab Weather. It says, "A Western Disturbance is likely to become active over Northwest India from October 4, 2025. It is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region and the adjoining plains of Northwest India during 05th to 07th October 2025."
Light rainfall is likely at isolated places over Punjab and Haryana from October 3 to 4.
Thereafter, under the influence of a Western Disturbance, Rainfall and Thunderstorm activity is likely to increase from October 5 to 7.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely at many places over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on October5 and 7, and at most places on 6th October 2025.
The spell is likely to be accompanied by Thunderstorm/Lightning and Gusty winds (40−50 kmph) over both states, including Chandigarh.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on 6th October 2025.
Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Punjab on 5th to 7th October 2025 and Haryana & Chandigarh on 6th to 7th October 2025.
Hailstorm is likely at isolated places on 5th and 6th October in Punjab and on 6th October in Haryana.
