Gautam Kukreja, associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and linked to Jalandhar's Mariton Hotel, has said that he has been shifted from the RSS to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His statement comes after a notification circulated which stated that Kukreja had been relieved of his organisational responsibility as Mahanagar Sah-Sampark Pramukh.
However, speaking to True Scoop, Kukreja disagreed with the claim that he had been removed from the organisation. He said he had been shifted from the RSS to the BJP.
The notification states that Kukreja has been relieved of his responsibilities in the RSS. His explanation presents the development as a shift to the BJP rather than removal.
The development comes amid ongoing issues surrounding Mariton Hotel, located on the Jalandhar-Phagwara highway. The hotel has faced action from the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation, which has issued notices over alleged regulatory violations. The civic body had also approached the Police Commissioner regarding the vacation of the premises.
The hotel was among the establishments inspected by the Excise Department in early October as part of checks concerning liquor stock and records.
Media reports on the inspection stated that the hotel's stock register was incomplete and that liquor belonging to another group was found in its stock. The department reportedly recorded statements from employees of the establishments inspected and initiated further proceedings.
Responding to the raid, Kukreja told True Scoop that the searches had taken place but claimed that nothing substantial was collected from the premises.
The department's final findings and any subsequent action would be needed to establish the outcome of the investigation.
The organisational notification and Kukreja's response offer different descriptions of his current status. While the notification says he has been relieved of his RSS responsibilities, Kukreja maintains that he has been shifted to the BJP.
