Goraya youth dies in Russia-Ukraine war after forced recruitment

The youth was allegedly, duped by travel agents with promises of a better future and was forcibly recruited into the army.

Mandeep Kumar, a 30-year-old youth from Goraya, Punjab, lost his life in the Russia-Ukraine war. The youth was allegedly, duped by travel agents and was forcibly recruited into the Russian army. The man suffered a congenital limb disability was coerced into a military contract and sent to the war front. On Saturday around 1:00 PM, his family reached Indira Gandhi International Airport to receive his mortal remains, and took his body to Jalandhar for final rites. The incident has plunged the family and the entire community into mourning.

The deceased had been living in Russia for quite some time, where he sought opportunities for a better future and employment. But, unfortunately, he fell prey to travel agents and was sent to Russia with a ton of false promises. However, upon his arrival in Russia the reality was far different from what had been told to him.  

Now, the Mandeep’s family is left grieving.
