AICC Secretary and Jalandhar Cantt MLA Padma Shri Pargat Singh today accused the Aam Aadmi Party Government of presiding over a complete collapse of law and order in Punjab, pointing to a surge in gun violence, bomb blasts, kidnappings and murders across the state.
“In one single day, Punjab saw three shocking crimes: gunmen entered an Amritsar hospital and shot a doctor, a man in Batala was riddled with bullets at home, and a woman was murdered in Amritsar during a robbery. This is the state of Punjab under AAP—citizens live in fear while the government remains silent,” Pargat Singh said.

*Doctors under attack*
Highlighting the repeated targeting of doctors, Singh said that Dr Kulwinder Singh in Amritsar’s Ajnala was shot by gangsters inside his hospital, just days after armed assailants opened fire outside his home. “This is not an isolated case—earlier doctors in Moga and Jalandhar were also attacked in similar fashion. Doctors who save lives now fear for their own,” he added.

*Bomb blasts and terror links*
Singh also flagged the two bomb blasts reported in Bathinda and Nawanshahr on the same day, calling them a possible sign of deeper terrorist conspiracies. “These blasts suggest sleeper cells may be active in Punjab. The government cannot dismiss this lightly—it demands a serious, time-bound investigation,” he said.

*Women and Dalits unsafe*
The Congress leader noted that women have been left particularly vulnerable. He cited the murder of a woman in Amritsar, the sexual assault case against AAP MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpuria (recently convicted by court), and the pending inquiries against other AAP leaders including Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak and MLA Balkar Singh. “When those in power stand accused of crimes against women, how can ordinary women feel safe?” he asked.

*Children and civilians targeted*
Pargat Singh further pointed to recent incidents:
• the abduction and killing of a five-year-old child in Hoshiarpur,
• the murder of a former Congress sarpanch in Amritsar,
• the recovery of a youth’s body on the roadside in Kapurthala.
“These incidents show how deeply public security has collapsed. Punjab’s citizens no longer feel safe in their homes, hospitals or streets,” he said.

*Questions for the Government*
Pargat Singh questioned the government’s selective action, noting that while MLA Lalpuria has been punished by court, other controversial leaders continue unchecked. “Why has the AAP Government failed to act against its own tainted representatives? Why the silence on gangsters, bomb blasts and kidnappings?” he asked.

*Congress Leader’s Demand*
Calling for urgent corrective measures, Singh demanded:
• A judicial probe into the recent surge of violent crimes and bombings.
• A dedicated law-and-order task force to curb gangster activity.
• Immediate and transparent action against all those involved in crimes, regardless of political affiliation.
“Punjab today needs security, justice and accountability. Women, children and ordinary families cannot live under constant threat. The government must abandon its complacency and act with urgency, or history will hold it responsible for putting Punjab’s safety at risk,” Pargat Singh said.
