Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann recently completed an official visit to the Netherlands and Finland aimed at building global partnerships, attracting investment and learning modern practices in agriculture and education.
The Netherlands visit largely focused on advanced farming techniques, especially horticulture and the delegation visited the famous Keukenhof garden known for large-scale flower cultivation and exports.
Officials noted that flowers are grown and exported globally including roses sourced from countries like Ethiopia. Punjab raised the possibility of supplying flowers directly which could be more cost-effective and the siscussions suggested future visits by Dutch teams to Punjab farms to explore this opportunity.
Punjab also explored collaboration with global institutions like the World Horti Center where modern techniques like indoor and controlled-environment farming are widely used. The Netherlands is also a global leader in cheese exports and this visit highlighted possible business and learning opportunities in that sector.
The Chief Minister promoted Punjab as a strong investment destination highlighting:
Stable policies & faster approvals for businesses
Strong infrastructure and connectivity
Skilled workforce & industrial base
Key discussion areas included:
Food processing, logistics, IT, pharma &manufacturing
High-value crops & export-quality agricultural products
Technology transfer & innovation partnerships
Startup ecosystem & research collaborations
The visit also aimed at connecting Punjab to global supply chains and encouraging foreign companies to invest in the state.

In Finland the focus shifted to education reforms and the delegation studied Finland’s globally recognised education system, known for child-friendly and play-based learning.
Discussions were held on improving teacher training, leadership, and classroom practices in Punjab and a a possible partnerships in teacher training and early childhood education were explored.
During the Netherlands visit CM Mann met Dutch hockey legend Floris Jan Bovelander and he was invited to Punjab to train and interact with players and the move is expected to strengthen hockey in the state ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
The visit focused on bringing new ideas and partnerships to Punjab especially in:
Modern agriculture & floriculture
Industrial investment & global trade
Education reforms & teacher training
Sports development
The government stated that such international engagements are aimed at boosting Punjab’s economy, increasing farmers’ income, and positioning the state as a global investment hub.
