The horrific crime in Jalandhar West has left everyone in shock. A 13-year-old girl was murdered and her body was found in a bathroom of a house at Paras Colony in Jalandhar. The incident led to outrage among local residents.
45-year-old Harminder Singh Happy who is a bus driver of a school in Jalandhar has been booked under relevant charges including POCSO. A complaint has been registered on the statement of victim's mother and maternal uncle.
As per reports, during police interrogation, the accused confessed that when the girl came to his house, he tried to force himself on her. When she refused, he strangled her to death. He then became frightened and hid the body in the bathroom.
Jalandhar Police officials suggest that preliminary interrogation has been conducted. The accused has allegedly confessed to the crime, but his medical report is still pending. He is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. After his treatment is complete, he will be presented in court and interrogated on remand.
This will reveal the entire sequence of events, including how and how long he took to kill the girl, what he intended to do with the body, and why he brought the car.
As per reports, Happy told the police that the girl used to come to play with her mother along with her (Happy's daughter) younger daughter. The accused further stated that on the day of the incident, his wife and younger daughter had gone to Ludhiana to visit his elder daughter. When the minor came to play with his daughter, he opened the gate and invited her inside.
The accused admitted that he was alone at home. As soon as the girl entered his house and asked about his younger daughter, he told her that she was not home. Seeing the girl, Happy allegedly said that his intentions turned bad. When she tried to escape, he grabbed her. The girl tried to escape and scream, but Happy gagged her.
It is further alleged that Happy admitted that he was distraught at the sight of the girl. He could think of nothing. He wanted to prevent her from going out at all costs. Therefore. he strangled her neck so hard that she died. After killing her, he hid her body in the bathroom.
The accused stated that his elder daughter lives at her maternal uncle's house. The younger daughter lives here.
The body of a 13-year-old girl was found in a neighbor's bathroom in the Jalandhar West area. CCTV footage of the girl going to the accused's house was also found. The girl was on her way to the accused's house around 4 p.m. After that, she did not come out. The family began searching for her but she was not found.
When the police was informed, a team of West police station reached there without a lady constable. They searched the house of the accused and said that there was nothing inside. When people got suspicious, a man got the gate opened around 11 pm and searched again, in which the girl was found lying in the bathroom. The uproar continued from 11 pm on Saturday night till 5 am on Sunday. ASI Mangat Ram was suspended with immediate effect.
