The Punjab Government has changed the gazetted holiday date for Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) in 2026 as earlier it was scheduled for May 27 but now the holiday will be observed on May 28, 2026.
As per an official notification issued by the Department of Personnel on Monday the decision has been taken as per the revised order of the Government of India and according to K.A.P. Sinha’s orders all government offices, boards, corporations and educational institutions in Punjab will remain closed on May 28 instead of May 27.
The notification also states that the holiday will apply under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 and this means banks and financial institutions across state will also remain closed on this day.
The change has been officially implemented across the state under the Government of Punjab notification so the simple update for all residents is to plan your work and banking accordingly as the holiday date has now been shifted to May 28.
