

Jalandhar is set to see major railway upgrades with new bridges and station redevelopment work moving ahead under central government schemes Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said in Parliament.
Jalandhar Cantt station redevelopment in progress Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Jalandhar Cantt railway station is being redeveloped.
Major structural work has already been completed, including:
Main and second entry buildings
Platform improvements
Foot over bridge and air concourse
Now finishing work is underway which includes better waiting areas, shelters, and overall station facilities.
The redevelopment plan focuses on making stations more comfortable and modern including:
Better waiting halls, toilets, and seating
Lifts, escalators, and ramps
Improved platforms and foot over bridges
Parking and easier station access
Shops for local products
A total of 30 railway stations in Punjab have been selected under the scheme and so far only three stations have been fully completed in the state and while work is happening across Punjab where both bridge construction and station redevelopment are moving forward to improve daily travel for passengers.
