A severe and persistent power crisis has gripped Jalandhar, with residents facing prolonged electricity cuts both during the day and late at night amid rising temperatures.
According to ground reports, several areas across the city are witnessing routine power outages of 5 to 6 hours during daytime. The situation worsens at night, with electricity supply being cut around 9 PM and remaining disrupted till 11:30 PM or even beyond. These late-night outages, lasting at least two-and-a-half hours, have now become a daily pattern.
Residents claim that nearly 70% of Jalandhar is affected by these recurring cuts, particularly during late-night hours when heat and humidity remain high. The outages have severely impacted daily life, with people struggling to sleep and manage basic household activities due to the lack of cooling in peak summer conditions.
The absence of any prior schedule or official communication has further added to public frustration. Consumers say the repeated and extended outages are taking a toll on children, elderly citizens, and patients who are most vulnerable to heat-related discomfort.
Despite the scale of disruption, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has not issued any official statement explaining the reasons behind the ongoing power cuts. No clarity has been provided to the media or the public regarding load management or supply constraints.
With temperatures continuing to rise across Punjab and electricity demand increasing, residents fear that the situation may worsen if immediate corrective measures are not taken. The ongoing outages have sparked growing calls for accountability and urgent intervention to restore a stable power supply in the city.
