People planning to travel through Jalandhar on Independence Day should check their route before leaving home, as Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has announced a special traffic plan for August 15 and imposed movement restrictions on several key roads in the city.

According to the traffic advisory, restrictions will remain in force from 7 AM to 2 PM in areas surrounding Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, where Independence Day-related events are scheduled to take place and during this period, general vehicle movement will be restricted at several major intersections, so commuters are likely to face delays, especially those travelling through the central parts of the city.

The roads and junctions that will remain under traffic restrictions include:

  • Khalsa School T-Point

  • Red Cross Morh

  • Milk Bar Chowk

  • Masand Chowk

  • Chunnun Chowk

  • Guru Nanak Mission Chowk

  • Geeta Mandir Chowk

  • A.P.J. T-Point

  • Samra Chowk

To reduce congestion and maintain the flow of traffic, the police have also identified alternative routes for motorists.

Traffic will be diverted through the following points:

  • Nakodar Chowk

  • Ravidas Chowk

  • Manbro Chowk

  • Dairy Chowk

  • Shivani Park

  • Liberty Chowk

  • BMC Chowk

  • Satluj Chowk

  • Police Lines T-Point

  • PAP Chowk

Authorities have requested motorists to avoid unnecessary travel near the stadium during the restriction period and those who must travel through the affected areas have been advised to follow traffic signs and use the alternative routes suggested by the police.

The special traffic arrangement will remain in effect only between 7 AM and 2 PM on August 15, after which normal movement is expected to resume.
