A shocking robbery incident has been reported from Jalandhar’s posh Urban Estate area, where two bike-borne snatchers targeted a 56-year-old woman and fled after forcibly snatching her earring. The incident not only left the woman in shock but also caused a serious injury, as her ear started bleeding due to the force used during the snatching. Doctors later had to put two stitches on her injured ear.

The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed in the area. The footage reportedly shows both accused arriving on a motorcycle and clearly capturing their faces, which has now become a crucial lead for the police investigation.
Series of events
According to the information available, the victim, identified as Sita Devi, a resident of Garha, was on her way to visit an acquaintance living near her house in the morning. She had barely walked a short distance from her residence when two unidentified youths on a motorcycle approached her from behind.
The pillion rider suddenly pulled her earring with force before she could react. Due to the sudden impact, Sita Devi lost her balance and felt dizzy for a moment. The accused immediately accelerated the motorcycle and escaped from the spot.
The forceful snatching caused a deep injury to her ear, resulting in heavy bleeding. Hearing her cries, family members rushed to the spot and took her to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Doctors examined the injury and provided treatment, including two stitches on her ear.
Police Investigation
Following the incident, the victim’s family informed the police. Officials from Police Station Division No. 7 reached the spot and started investigating the matter. The police have collected the CCTV footage from the area and are analysing it to identify the suspects.
The footage is expected to help investigators trace the accused and establish their identity. Police officials are also checking whether the accused are involved in any similar snatching incidents reported in the city recently.
Residents’ appeal to the authorities
The incident has raised concerns among residents of Urban Estate, one of Jalandhar’s prominent residential areas, regarding the safety of people, especially senior citizens. Locals have urged authorities to increase patrolling in residential areas and take strict action against those involved in chain and earring snatching cases.
