The counting of votes for the much-awaited Jullundur Gymkhana Club elections is currently underway, with the Achievers Group maintaining a lead across all three key contested posts after two rounds of counting.

Reportedly 2,652 members have cast their votes, taking the turnout beyond the 50% mark, while the overall election witnessed a strong response from the Gymkhana membership. The high turnout reflected the keen interest among members in the closely contested election.

As the counting progresses, two rounds have now been completed, with the Achievers Group emerging ahead in all three key contests in both rounds. Amit Kukreja is leading in the race for Honorary Secretary, while Dheeraj Seth is ahead for the post of Junior Vice President.

The third key contest is for the post of Treasurer, where Saurabh Khullar of the Achievers Group is currently maintaining the lead after the first two rounds of counting.

The Joint Secretary position had already gone to the Achievers Group, with Harpreet Singh “Goldy” becoming Joint Secretary after Anu Matta withdrew her candidature, citing health concerns.

The latest counting trends come amid a strong election atmosphere witnessed at the Gymkhana earlier in the day. Members turned up in large numbers, with more than half of the votes reportedly cast. On-ground support was also visibly expressed for Amit Kukreja and Dheeraj Seth, with several executive members speaking about the need for development and better functioning of the club.

The contest between the Achievers Group and Progressive Group has remained closely watched, particularly for the key office-bearer positions.

With two rounds of counting completed, the Achievers Group currently holds the upper hand across the three key contested posts — Honorary Secretary, Junior Vice President and Treasurer. However, counting is still underway, and the final result is awaited.

The Gymkhana community now awaits the completion of counting to see whether the current trend translates into a decisive victory for the Achievers Group.
