In a heart-wrenching incident in the Sultanpur Lodhi sub-division of Kapurthala, a mother attempted suicide by jumping into the Kali Bein with her two young children. While the mother survived, both children died at the scene. Upon being informed of the incident, police reached the spot and took custody of the children's bodies.
According to reports, Simran Kaur, wife of Bharpoor Singh of village Adalat Chak, reached the Kali Bein with her two young sons, Veer Pratap Singh (6 years) and Gur Pratap Singh (3 years), due to mental stress and jumped into the river. It is reported that one of the two children had just been picked up from school.
During the incident, passersby immediately showed courage and pulled the woman out safely. However, despite all efforts, the two innocent children could not be saved, and their lives ended in the water. Seeing this heart-wrenching scene a wave of grief spread throughout the area.
ASI Baldev Singh, the investigating officer of the Sultanpur Lodhi police station, said the police have taken custody of the bodies of the two children and placed them in the mortuary of the civil hospital. Police are investigating the case from all angles.
