'Exams stopped, lights off': Know what happened when Jalandhar schools received bomb threat

Multiple schools of Jalandhar on Monday received bomb threat email. The bomb threat email received by various schools of Jalandhar was sent allegedly by a Khalistani terror outfit. The sender not only threatened to blow up schools but also railway tracks.

Among the schools that have received bomb threat are Ivy World School in Rama Mandi, St. Joseph's Convent School situated in Cantt Road, Jalandhar, Apeejay School, DPS, and KMV.

Parents of students received messages from school administration to pick up their children from school.

A parent Tajinder Singh who reached the spot said, "I have come here to pick up my child. I received a message on WhatsApp from school. Now, I am hearing that schools have received threat mails. It is very wrong. Whether it is a rumor or real, such incidents hamper students' education."

A student of Saint Joseph said, "We were giving our papers, all of a sudden our papers were taken, lights were switched off. We were then made to stand in the ground. It happened around 10:45 am. Our Principal told us that your parents have been informed and you can all now go home for the day."

A police officer who reached the spot said, "The Principal has received a mail. We have called a team to carry out thorough checking of the school. Our Cyber Team are now checking the mail and an investigation will also take place. Other schools have also received such mail."
