People across Punjab can look forward to a two-day break this weekend as August 15 and August 16 fall on consecutive holidays, the break will begin on Saturday, August 15, which will be observed as Independence Day, a gazetted public holiday in Punjab.
The following day, Sunday, August 16, is the regular weekly holiday.
According to the Punjab Government’s annual holiday calendar, August 15 is observed as a gazetted holiday on the occasion of Independence Day.
Government offices and other state-run institutions will remain closed on the day, except for establishments and personnel assigned duties related to Independence Day celebrations.
With August 15 falling on a Saturday and August 16 being Sunday, many employees will get two consecutive days away from regular office work.
