
There was an overnight tragedy in Ludhiana's Jageda village when a pickup van carrying 29 people toppled into a canal, claiming the lives of six of its occupants. The deceased include three women, two children, and one man, with the rest of the people having been injured to varying extents.
The accident took place on Jageda Bridge when the group of people, which was coming from Mata Naina Devi temple, was traveling in a vehicle. "All 29 passengers were in the vehicle when it skidded out of control and fell into the canal suddenly. Six people, three women, two children, and one man, lost their lives in the tragic incident. The rest are injured and receiving medical treatment," ADC Kumar said.
The authorities have begun an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. "A thorough investigation is underway," confirmed ADC Kumar, while urging the people to journey safely on pilgrimages and strictly following passenger carrying capacities of vehicles. The accident has cast a gloom of sadness over the society, as the local administration promised all possible assistance to the families of the victims.
