Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia's legal team has approached Amritsar court regarding FIR registered against him in connection with recent incident at Majitha police station and according to Majithia's lawyers a petition has been filed in court alleging that SHO of Majitha police station has failed to provide a copy of FIR.

The legal team which includes advocates Amanbir Singh Syali, Advocate Bath and Pradeep Saini argued that even after three days FIR has neither been provided to them nor uploaded on Punjab Police website.

The legal development comes as Punjab Police continues its investigation into the incident that took place at Majitha police station on Sunday meanwhile police have intensified their efforts and formed 12 special teams to identify and arrest people allegedly involved in the said case.

According to Punjab Police a large crowd gathered outside police station on Sunday and officials claimed that around 50 to 60 people were present and it turned into an unlawful assembly.

During a press briefing police alleged that around 11:30 am some members of crowd overpowered police personnel and forcibly entered the police station and officials claimed that the entry was part of a planned attempt to secure release of Jobanpreet Singh who was in police custody at the time.

Police further alleged that members of crowd entered different rooms inside police station and searched various areas before reaching the room where Jobanpreet Singh was being questioned and officials also claimed that some case files were torn and public property was damaged during the incident.

According to police version Jobanpreet Singh was taken out of police custody by members of the crowd however police personnel later regained control of the situation and brought him back into custody.

Police have also alleged that some officers were assaulted during the said incident and that there was an attempt to snatch mobile phone of SHO as well and following the incident an FIR was registered and raids are being conducted at multiple locations and police said that 5 to 7 individuals have been identified so far while efforts are underway to identify others who were present during the incident.
