Industrial-turned-politician Sanjeev Arora has emerged as one of the most influential and powerful ministers in the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab. Recently, the minister was handed over the portfolio of the Local Bodies department.
With this, now Sanjeev Arora holds the portfolio of the following departments:

Sanjeev Arora entered the political world after being picked up to contest the Rajya Sabha polls from Punjab in the month of April in 2022. Later Sanjeev Arora was elected as an MLA in 2025, after he claimed victory in the Ludhiana West assembly by-elections. He was administered oath on June 28, 2025. After this, Arora was handed over key responsibilities and given the departments of Industry and Commerce and NRI Affairs, later during a cabinet rejig he was handed over the department of Power as well.
It is not a mystery that Sanjeev Arora’s new portfolio was entrusted upon him after his exceptional performance. After his efforts were seen bearing fruits in the industry sector, now, the party eyes to woo the urban voters with Arora’s urbane persona ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly polls of 2027. Another major reason as to why Sanjeev Arora was entrusted with such a huge responsibility is the important role that he played during Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s recent visit to Japan and North Korea. These visits proved to be highly beneficial for the industrial sector of Punjab. During this international visit a lot of trade agreements were signed and gave a major boost to the sector.
Sanjeev Arora had unfortunately lost his mother to breast cancer after which Arora went on to establish the Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust in the year 2005, with the aim to provide free treatment to cancer patients. Arora also lost his father to cancer later which was another reason behind his noble initiative.
Sanjeev Arora was recognized for his efforts and honored with the state award for his philanthropic efforts by the then Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in the year 2018. During the time, Arora’s trust had helped over 100 patients battling with cancer.
Today, unarguably, Sanjeev Arora has emerged as one of the most powerful minister of the Bhagwant Mann-led cabinet.
