The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab’ yatras reached Jalandhar on September 29 after travelling across Punjab as part of the party’s 13-day campaign against drugs.
Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon received the four yatras upon their arrival in Jalandhar. Delhi Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney were also present.
According to the BJP, the four yatras began from Madhopur on September 18, Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19, Fazilka on September 20, and Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo on September 21.
Addressing the gathering, Dhillon said that the yatras had travelled through villages and different parts of Punjab for 13 days and had developed into a mass campaign. He said the campaign had received significant public participation and support.
Dhillon said the BJP had been raising the issue of drug abuse in Punjab and claimed that the campaign had given people confidence that the drug menace could be addressed through sustained action.
Amit Shah to Address Rally on September 30
Dhillon said Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to address a public rally on September 30 on the occasion of the conclusion of the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’.
He said the campaign against drugs would continue beyond the conclusion of the yatras, with the BJP stating that its objective is to work towards making Punjab drug-free.
Jalandhar BJP District President Ashok Sareen Hicky, along with several party leaders and workers, was present during the programme.
