Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal credited the AAP’s sweeping victory in the Bathinda Municipal Corporation elections to the Bhagwant Mann Government’s four years of honest governance and pro-people work, asserting that the massive public turnout and enthusiastic response during a mega roadshow reflected Punjab’s growing trust in the Government.
Thanking the people of Bathinda for the resounding mandate, the AAP Supremo said the verdict had reaffirmed public faith in CM Bhagwant Singh Mann’s clean and corruption-free administration, adding that while every previous Chief Minister in Punjab had faced corruption-related questions, not a single allegation had surfaced against Bhagwant Singh Mann or any member of his Government. He expressed confidence that the people’s continued support and satisfaction with the Government’s performance had firmly set the stage for Bhagwant Singh Mann’s return as Chief Minister in 2027. AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia, AAP Punjab State President Aman Arora and several senior party leaders were also present on the occasion.
Addressing a massive crowd at the roadshow, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today there are four parties in Punjab. One party is known by people, in anger, as the ‘Chitta Party’. During its rule, drugs were sold extensively and reached every household. People also call it the ‘Beadbi Party’ because many incidents of 'beadbi' (sacrilege) took place during its tenure.”
He further said, “The second is the ‘Jhagda Party’. Its leaders are always fighting among themselves. The third is the ‘ED Party’. It threatens people with the ED and sends agencies after them. And the fourth is the Aam Aadmi Party, your party, ‘janta ki party,’ a party that works for the public.”
Looking ahead to the Assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal asserted, “I have been told that the elections will be held in November, not February. Only four months are left. Now we all have only one task. We have to make Bhagwant Singh Mann Chief Minister again. He must become Chief Minister again.”
The AAP Chief also thanked the people from the bottom of his heart for giving us such a magnificent victory in the Municipal Corporation elections. “As we were coming here during the roadshow, I was looking at people’s faces. It has been four years since we formed the government. When previous governments were in power, people would stand with shoes in their hands to chase them away. We have completed four years, and today there is so much happiness on people’s faces. Seeing that made me truly happy,” he added.
Highlighting the purpose behind entering politics, he stated, “We entered politics to work for the people. It feels very good that after four years, people are appreciating our work. You have given us a resounding victory in Bathinda, putting your stamp of approval on our work. While coming here during the roadshow, the happiness visible on your faces showed that you are very satisfied with the AAP government.”
Recalling his visit during the 2022 elections, Arvind Kejriwal continued, “I came to Bathinda during the 2022 elections. At that time, I was told that the people of Bathinda had to pay a ‘Jojo Tax’. Nobody collects it anymore and there is no loot and extortion now. Nobody asks you for money anymore. This is Bhagwant Mann’s honest government.”
Praising the Punjab CM’s record, the former Delhi Chief Minister emphasised, “In the last 75 years, Punjab has seen many Chief Ministers, many ministers. But no one has been as honest as Bhagwant Mann. Every Chief Minister who came before faced allegations. People said such and such Chief Ministers made so much money, committed this scam, that scam, that their family members were involved in corruption, that their ministers were involved in corruption. Such allegations were made against every Chief Minister.”
He further stated, “In the last four years, not a single allegation of corruption involving even one paisa has been made against Bhagwant Mann. Not a single allegation. Do you think PM Modi would have spared Bhagwant Mann if there had been any allegation? The ED and CBI would have conducted raids here as well. But there has not been a single allegation against him, against his family, or against any of his ministers.”
Highlighting the government’s work, the AAP National Convenor said, “The government saved public money and made electricity free for the people. It provided insurance cover of ₹10 lakh. Now, from 1 July, ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 will start reaching the accounts of every mother and sister. So much work has been done. Now all of us have only one task. We have to make Bhagwant Mann Chief Minister again so that all the unfinished work can also be completed.”
*Punjabis swept BJP, Congress and Akalis aside despite their joint efforts to stop AAP; mandate reflects faith in honest governance: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann*
Addressing a gathering, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The people of Punjab must know that during the recent local body elections, the BJP, the Akalis and the Congress fought hand-in-hand. They pooled their resources, aligned their strategies and ran a unified under-the-table campaign against the Punjab Government. They were collectively terrified of an honest Government that is serving the people. These parties have realised that if AAP continues its journey of public service, their shops of corruption will shut permanently.”
The Chief Minister said that Punjab’s politically aware and farsighted people saw through this nexus and delivered a decisive verdict in favour of AAP. “The people picked up the broom and completely swept all three parties aside in the local elections. The mandate reflects the public’s faith in honest politics and their rejection of parties that have repeatedly failed them,” he said.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said traditional political parties are unable to accept that a person from an ordinary family is successfully leading Punjab and working tirelessly for the welfare of its people. “These leaders always believed they had a divine right to rule Punjab. That is why they cannot digest the fact that a common man is running the Government efficiently and honestly. For decades they misled people through false promises and propaganda, but Punjabis are no longer getting swayed by such tactics,” he stated.
Highlighting the Government’s achievements, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann said taxpayers’ money is now being utilised honestly for development works, schools, hospitals, roads and welfare schemes instead of being lost to commissions and corruption. He said, “More than 90 per cent of households in Punjab are receiving free electricity. Over 67,000 youth have secured Government jobs completely on merit without paying a single rupee as a bribe. We have also shut down several toll plazas across Punjab, saving nearly ₹70 lakh every day for the people.”
Describing agriculture as the backbone of Punjab’s economy, the Chief Minister assured farmers that the Punjab Government would continue providing every possible resource to strengthen the farming sector and increase agricultural productivity. “Farmers are the food providers of the nation and they deserve the highest level of support from the Government. I assure every farmer that they can use as much canal water as they need in their fields. The Government will ensure that there is absolutely no shortage of irrigation water,” he said.
CM Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that the Punjab Government has revived the canal network across the state, bringing canal water to the tail ends of channels that had remained dry for more than three decades. “We will continue expanding this network so that every farm has access to sufficient surface water. This will reduce dependence on tube wells and help conserve our precious groundwater for future generations,” he added.
Thanking the people of Punjab for their unwavering trust and support, CM Bhagwant Singh Mann reiterated his Government’s commitment to building a prosperous, progressive and healthy Rangla Punjab. “I will continue serving the people with complete dedication. The AAP Government is working tirelessly for the welfare of every section of society and no stone is being left unturned to ensure the progress and well-being of Punjab and its people,” he affirmed.
