

Amritsar Police achieves major success in Operation Prahar-2. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar talking about the success of the operation shares that during the last three days of the operation against drugs and organized crime, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar have achieved significant success. He says, that during this special campaign, a large number of seizers were made and many criminals have been arrested. He asserts that even after the operation has ended, the campaign has been continued, vigorously maintaining pressure on criminals.
The Police Commissioner informs that a total of 27 accused were arrested in the case related to NDPS Act from February 12 to February 16. During this period, about 8 kg of narcotics, drug money and vehicles used in illegal activities were also seized. A total of 11 vehicles were seized, which included four-wheelers and two-wheelers that were linked to drug trafficking and criminal networks.
It was further revealed that 86 wanted criminals were identified during the operation that includes some named in serious criminal cases such as Section 307 (attempt to murder). Four such criminals who had been absconding for a long time were also apprehended in this four-day long operation. Intensive checks were also carried out at hotels and other places so that suspicious activities could be kept in check.
Talking further the officer clarified that as per the directions of the Chief Minister, full focus is being given to two major campaigns against organized crime, ‘war on drugs’ and ‘war on gangsters’. He affirmed that Punjab Police is taking these campaigns forward under zero-tolerance policy, so that criminals do not get any kind of relief. He said that such strict actions will continue in the coming days as well and the police will take all possible steps to make Amritsar a drug-free and safe city.
